Stay Local! and Renaissance Publishing Announce First "Guide to Buying Locally"

March 2, 2009

Stay Local!, the flagship initiative of New Orleans-based nonprofit The Urban Conservancy, is partnering with local publishing company Renaissance Publishing to create a definitive “Guide to Buying Locally” to be released just in time for Jazz Fest. The guide will include the more than 1,500 businesses listed on the Stay Local! website.

All Stay Local! businesses have several options to enhance their listing to give their business more prominence in the guide. See details in the 2009 ‘Guide to Buying Locally Media’ Kit [PDF]

Businesses that are not franchises and whose majority ownership resides within Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, Jefferson, or St. Tammany Parish that wish to be included in the guide must be registered on Stay Local! by Friday, March 6. Stay Local!, is committed to creating a strong local economy by raising the visibility of locally-owned businesses and by encouraging New Orleanians to support businesses born and raised here so that they can continue to thrive and grow.

Businesses currently listed on the Web site are encouraged to verify their accuracy, and make any necessary changes to it for the launch of the new site. Businesses wishing to create a listing are encouraged to do so at www.staylocal.org/add no later than Thursday, March 5, 2009.
