Details

Jane Jacobs was a brilliant urban proponent with a simple philosophy: if a city isn’t walkable, it isn’t functional. The more people-friendly a city’s streets, the safer and more dynamic they become.

Each year thousands across Canada and the US celebrate Jane’s work and vision with neighborhood walks the first weekend in May.

Join Urban Conservancy’s Dana Eness for the third annual “Only on Oak Street” walk on Saturday, May 7, starting at Rue de la Course at 9 am and wrapping up before the gates open at Jazz Fest. See why Oprah listed Oak Street #11 on her list of “100 things that are getting better” last year. Learn about the iconic businesses that have been on the street for nearly a century as well as the exciting new shops and galleries like Lucky Girl, Abeille NOLA, and Cow Bell that are popping up from one end to the other.

And, of course, get the skinny on the wildly popular annual New Orleans Poboy Preservation Festival that Oak Street has hosted since 2007.
