The Neighborhoods Planning Network, New Orleans Project and Tulane School of Architecture announce a workshop on Sustainable Urban Renewal.
Greater New Orleans is presented with an opportunity to implement progressive methods in order to preserve its rich cultural and natural environments. Developing an environmentally sustainable city requires significant collaboration and partnership among a diverse array of neighborhoods, planners, businesses, and environmental organizations.
It is in this spirit that we invite the residents and visitors of New Orleans to the “Just Environments” workshop.
The following is a program for the evening:
5:30pm Guided Tour of Exhibition by Designers
6:05pm Brief Introduction
6:10pm Salons
Salon 1. Arts and Cultural Participation as a Community Organizing Tool will discuss best practices and tools to educate and engage neighborhood communities in preserving our natural resources.
Salon 2. Sustainable Green Architecture
The New Orleans Project provides a platform to discuss how the New Orleans architecture can be preserved while incorporating progressive energy and environmental solutions.
Salon 3. Working Environments into Neighborhoods
New Orleans will be rebuilding for many years to come. This salon focuses on the kinds of natural infrastructure and waste management solutions that can neighborhoods can implement.
7:00pm Power Panel
A diverse panel of interdisciplinary speakers will host Q & A from the audience regarding ways to enact sustainable redevelopment in New Orleans.
7:55pm Wine & Cheese Social
