LOUISIANA ARTWORKS PRESENTS: ART AND COMMERCE: GALLERIES, FAIRS, BIENNIALS.
Louisiana ArtWorks is pleased to present the sixth panel in our monthly series, Art Sessions: A Series of Discussions on Visual Contemporary Art.
Moderated by Jacqueline Bishop.
Galleries, Fairs and Biennials all serve as commercial outlets to the Visual Contemporary Arts Community. Biennials and fairs have created additional, flourishing art marketplaces that influence the day to day operations of the more traditional gallery venue. Are alternative marketplaces a step towards privatization, and what are the economic and artistic implications? Are they mainly market-driven, or do they offer unique opportunities for conceptual artists? Join us Tuesday, February 26th as panelists explore the ramifications of these emerging venues.
Panelists:
Dan Cameron, Director of Visual Arts, Contemporary Arts Center
Jonathan Ferrara, Artist and Owner, Jonathan Ferrara Gallery
Diane Villani, Owner and Director, Diane Villani Editions
Rachel Vancelette, Director, Barbara Gladstone Gallery
This program is made possible by The Joan Mitchell Foundation.
