Old Algiers RiverFest

Old Algiers RiverFest will expand this year from one day to two days and will add community outreach programs. Scheduled for April 5-6, the event will be preceded by an extensive classroom program designed both to enhance the learning opportunities in New Orleans schools and to promote the Old Algiers area’s role in the development of jazz.

Old Algiers RiverFest is presented annually by Old Algiers Main Street Corporation, whose mission is to preserve and revitalize the historically commercial corridors of Old Algiers.

Award-winning artist Terrance Osborne will produce the official poster of RiverFest 2008. Osborne, who was a public school teacher before becoming a full time artist, will use his signature vibrant colors and historical context to produce a poster that represents the rich culture of Old Algiers. Osborne’s work can be viewed at www.TerranceOsborne.com. The poster will be unveiled and available for sale at the preview party and at the festival site.
